It_s a desperation move and the higher rates will likely send Russia into a recession. Now to a disturbing find in Brazil. Scientists have discovered a super-bacteria in waters that will host a number of aquatic events in the 2016 Olympics. Researchers taking samples from Flamengo beach near Rio de Janeiro found the superbug which is resistant to most modern medications. The bacteria is normally only found in hospital waste. Here_s the thing nearly 70-percent of Rio_s sewage flows DIRECTLY into nearby Guanabara Bay. In its Olympic bid the city pledged to reduce pollution in the bay by 80 percent. And Denmark is the latest country to lay claim to part of the Arctic. The area in question is nearly 350-thousand square miles of the continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean. Its actually twenty times bigger than Denmark itself. The Scandinavian nation made the claim by filing documents to the United Nations and now joins the battle between Canada Russia and Norway for ownership of the resource rich region. It_s believed the shelf holds 30 percent of the world_s undiscovered natural gas and 15 percent of its oil.

However, the opposition Republicans will likely argue for even deeper spending cuts along with a DECREASE in taxes. Obama_s budget projects an overall deficit cut of 5-point-5 percent, from 1-point-3 trillion in 2012 to 901-billion by the end of 2013.RW) On the international front, it doesn_t look like the volatile situation in Syria will be improving anytime soon. The Syrian government has categorically rejected an Arab League resolution to bring peace to the region. Eila Adams has been tracking the latest developments from Syria and joins us now with an update. What_s happening there Eila?EA) Rachelle, the resolution would have called for a joint UN-Arab peacekeeping mission in Syria to end nearly a year of bloodshed. Syrian officials dismissed the plan, saying that it reflects hysteria on the parts of the countries involved. While the EU praised the proposal, Russia voiced some concerns. They say that the violence has to end before peacekeepers are sent into the beleaguered country. Despite the fact that Russia is now willing to hear details about an international agreement, it will be too late for some Syrians. Fighting continues, unabated. EA) And in Greece, lawmakers voted to approve yet another round of austerity measures in a desperate bid for a eurozone bailout. Naturally, this didn_t sit well with protesters in Athens. Over 40 buildings were set on fire, a number of stores were looted and many cars were overturned and destroyed. 25 protesters and 40 police officers were injured in the riots. The austerity measures include deep cuts to government spending, including the laying off of thousands more employees as well as big cuts in wages, and pensions. The Greek government hopes the agreement will prompt eurozone lenders to approve the badly-needed 172-billion dollar bailout Rachelle.RW) I read a story that compared the size of the cuts in Greece, to the US, and it said it would be like the US government laying off 5 million employees. EA) Exactly, and many Greeks don_t think the belt tightening will even work so they_re wondering what the whole point of it all is.RW) I don_t think anyone really wants to find out what would happen if they defaulted on their debt, so let_s hope this latest agreement brings them closer to resolving their finances. He called Russia America_s Number 1 geopolitical foe, after President Obama_s open mic remarks to the Russian President earlier this week. Obama told Medvedev that he_d have more flexibility in dealing with Russia in regards to a missile defense program after the election.PP) Romney didn_t waste any time responding, saying it was a sign that Obama will cave in to Russia. He went on to say Russia is not a friendly character on the world stage. Medvedev fired back, saying Romney should Use his head. RW) A ReutersIpsis online poll says that the majority of Americans are unhappy with the way President Obama is handling rising gas prices. 68-percent of respondents say they disapproved with Obama_s response - a number that crosses party lines, which could spell bad news in an election year. However, they don_t necessarily BLAME him for the rising prices.PP) The most common reason cited was greedy oil companies, with 36-percent blaming them. A further 26-percent say that it_s a number of factors, including oil companies, politicians, foreign countries, and environmentalists. In Syria, rebel forces have taken control of a key military base in the country_s eastern region. Katherine Curtis has been tracking the ongoing struggle there, and joins us now with the latest. Kat?Vic, the rebels have seized an important army base in the eastern town of Mayadeen. The base is said to contain large artillery stockpiles and other military supplies. It was also thought to be the last stronghold of government loyalists in the oil-rich eastern province. Meanwhile, government forces carried out airstrikes on a suburban area near the Syrian capital of Damascus, as well as rebel bases in the north. Activists say 40-thousand lives have been claimed by the violence there since protests began last year. Lastly, here_s something straight out of the TV series ëLost.i A South Pacific island called Sandy, nestled between Australia and New Caledonia, has long appeared on most world maps including Google Earth. But researchers from the University of Sydney have just made a rather startling, uh, un-discovery. It turns out Sandy doesn_t actually EXIST. Never has, never will. We_ll lead off with LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham for multiple platforms. The key part of that title is the Beyond Gotham part. Because after the opening chapter-you REALLY do go beyond Gotham City. Even the parts with Green Lantern are interesting-and Green Lantern is usually THE WORSTIt_s kind of odd that the BEST LEGO Batman game barely features Batman at times but trust me: it_s for the best. Overall LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is pretty easy but also VERY addictive-it gets four out of five Naked Ns.And if you_re a professional wrestling fan with a next-gen console you_ve probably been waiting for WWE 2K15 for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. I_m not going to sugar coat it-the last-gen version of this title was AWFUL. The good news is that there are some upgrades in the next-gen version. Thanks to new scanning technology wrestlers look VERY realistic. Gameplay wise WWE 2K15 is NOT a high-speed barroom brawl like most wrestling games. It_s a lot slower and the pace resembles an actual WWE match-with lock-ups and momentum and comebacks.All that said there are still some major issues with WWE 2K15. The match options are limited the commentary is repetitive and the amount of lag in online play straight up ruins the experience. Also the roster isn_t as large as it could be. It_s a step in the right direction but it may be a couple of years before we get a WWE game that reaches main event status. It gets three out of five Naked Ns.

Overall LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is pretty easy but also VERY addictive-it gets four out of five Naked Ns.And if you_re a professional wrestling fan with a next-gen console you_ve probably been waiting for WWE 2K15 for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. I_m not going to sugar coat it-the last-gen version of this title was AWFUL. The good news is that there are some upgrades in the next-gen version. Thanks to new scanning technology wrestlers look VERY realistic. Gameplay wise WWE 2K15 is NOT a high-speed barroom brawl like most wrestling games. It_s a lot slower and the pace resembles an actual WWE match-with lock-ups and momentum and comebacks.All that said there are still some major issues with WWE 2K15. The match options are limited the commentary is repetitive and the amount of lag in online play straight up ruins the experience. Also the roster isn_t as large as it could be.
